The Rev. Dr. Sharon Turner
Greetings!
Thanks for your interest in St. John’s.  Here’s something about me:
Over the past couple of years I have been blessed to be part of this little congregation that we call St.
John’s.  I serve part-time. Our wardens and vestry very capably lead the congregation. This includes
their envisioning and guiding our mission, congregational development, spiritual growth, care of the
facilities, outreach efforts and pastoral care.
I assist as needed in all of the above; but as a priest my particular role is oversight of our worship
services and the sacraments. All is centered in Scripture and follows the Book of Common Prayer. I
work under the authority of the Bishop and within the framework of the Episcopal Church in the
Diocese of Texas.
One might say that there is a touch of the Celtic in my style. I’ve been a serious student of Celtic
spirituality. I have studied, traveled and gone on several pilgrimages in the British Isles. I am also an
artist.  All this informs my approach to preaching and teaching that is image-making—inspired by
Wisdom traditions and the blessedness of creation. My experience of the Faith has been an amazing
adventure and I remain a life long student of it.
I’ve been ordained since 1987—following careers in teaching and advertising. As a full time priest I
served Holy Spirit, Houston, and St. Michael and All Angels, Dallas. Since retiring I have enjoyed
supplying at marvelous little churches across the entire eastern side of Texas—from Paris and
Texarkana to the north and Refugio and Cuero to the south. But I happily “hung my hat” at St. Johns-
Columbus in 2008 and hope to be here as long as God and the people so desire.
Come see us sometime: You’ll also want to stay!
Blessings! Sharon+
P. S. I find that people tend to worry about how to address me: I’m sometimes called “Mother
Sharon,” “Dr. Turner,” “Pastor Sharon,” or even “Father”; but most people just call me “Sharon.” And
that’s just fine.
